How to fix “The selected disk has an MBR partition table” error


When you try to clean install Windows 11 64-bit, you may experience one or more of the following symptoms:

Windows 11 Setup

The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, 
the operating system can only be installed to GPT disks.

Setup does not support configuration of or installation to disks 
connected through a USB or IEEE 1394 port.

This problem may occur for one of the following reasons:

  • Windows is incompatible with a mass storage controller or a mass storage driver.
  • A mass storage controller or a mass storage driver is outdated.
  • A data cable in the computer is loose, or another hardware issue has occurred.
  • Hard drive damage.

Resolution 1: Change SATA Mode from other to AHCI in BIOS

Please follow the steps below to ensure that the BIOS settings are correct:

  • SATA Mode: AHCI

Resolution 2: Try to reinstall Windows 11 using Fastoe Win11 Bootable USB Drive
